You Waited Me Out

 I had to 

close out 

all the hurt. 

I shutdown 

and I did 

it completely. 

If just a 

ray of 

sunlight 

came in that 

meant so 

could the others. 

I could not take

the chance.

So I pretended,

and was 

in the dark

for so many 

years. 

I could no

longer 

live like 

this,

so as I opened

up and 

the 

sunlight 

blinded 

me. 

I walked 

through 

clearing 

the fog 

in my head. 

And there 

you stood

waiting.

As others 

stood on 

the sidelines

and watched 

me struggling, 

and used me

for what they 

needed. 

You 

grabbed my

hand and 

kissed it 

and then

I knew.

I wasted so 

much time,

but not 

anymore. 

You simply 

did the one 

thing I needed.

You waited 

me out.
