Your Porch

In Minnesota
as a little girl,
you were my best
friend.
I loved you so.
Across the
street from my school,
I would come home
everyday
for lunch.
I would get
to your house
and you would
be waiting on your
porch for me.
One time I got
lost and I
went to your house.
I sat on the porch.
It was the one
place I felt safe.
On this day,
it was snowing.
The snow banks
so high.
I walked to your
house, because
i knew you
would have soup
for me.
I got to the porch
and you
helped me out
of my snowsuit.
You put your
arms around me
and kissed the top
of my head.
come in,
come in before you
catch a cold.
Inside I went.
Through the living
room and through
the dining room.
Into the Kitchen
I went.
Hot soup and
a Kiss on the top of
my head.
Grandma loves you,
you said to me.
I love you Grandma.
Eating my Soup,
You sat next
to me and watched
me.
Make sure you eat
all your soup.
I want you to
grow up strong.
I would get my snowsuit
on while standing on
your porch.
Walking away
I waved and said
I love you Grandma.
I feel so strong now.
.....And when I think
of you...
I am...Strong.
