Forgiveness
I have come here
every year for
eight years.
This is my
Church.
This is my safety.
I drove for
hours to
get here
and I
have rested
before I
headed to my church.
I wanted to
have a clear
head.
I walk
through the
trees,
through the
sand.
I climb over the
dunes.
As I climb over
I see.
I see my
God.
He is enormous
but his spirit is
loud
with each
crashing wave.
I stop ontop
of the dune.
usually
when I come
I have sorrow
in my heart,
questions that
need to be awnsered.
Tears that
need to be wiped.
But not
this time.
This time
As I walk down
to the crashing
waves,
I get down
on my knees.
I say under
my breath.
Thank you for
all you have given me
and all I am
going to be.
You reply by
whispering
in my ear.
The wind
off the ocean
so sweet.
You whisper,
You are forgiven
my child,
my love.
The warm
sand on my knees
chimes in.
You are forgiven.
I whisper
forgiveness.
I give
and then
I get.
forgiveness
