Green Linen
I light the
candles
and slip
into the tub.
I add
oil and
pressed flowers.
I look at myself
in the reflection
and do not
look like
I think
I should.
If I looked
like I felt,
let's see..
a small waist
and flat stomach.
No wrinkles.
Arms that would
mean business.
Legs so strong
that they
could carry the world.
Eyes so perfect
that I could see
for miles.
Not one ounce
of fat.
But thats not the case.
But I feel like
all those things.
I feel free inside
good inside.
Until my reflection
tells me
different.
I get out of
the tub
and dry off
closing my eyes.
I pull on my short
Green linen dress
and pin my bangs
back.
And just like
that I am all
those things.
The linen is
thin enough
to show my
shape and
I smile.
