Hopefulness in My Eyes
Let me
walk down
that road
by myself.
Even if its
just in my
mind.
I can still
smell
the boxwood
in the summer.
I can
feel the linen
pants
let the
night
summer
breeze
float in and
out,
cooling me.
my hair
long
reddish brown,
floating as
I walked.
My legs
so long,
so tanned,
so young.
My sandals
are hanging
by my fingers
as my feet
glided
across the night
pavement.
The homes
so big
that you could
get lost in
them.
I see
you coming
around
the corner.
It's almost 1am.
I see
your smile
and I smile
looking down
at the ground.
Nobody
wants to see
that.
That hopefulness
in my eyes.
