Rainbow Falls

 I have waited 

for this moment

this walk for 

more years 

than I could 

count.

As we walked 

in the wooded

neighborhood 

We walked your 

dogs 

brother and sister puppies. 

Keeping up 

pace with each 

other just like 

us. 

The invisible 

thread between us

was secure 

as it once was.

The unspoken 

memories are lost 

with our footsteps 

and that is a 

good thing.

For the first time

you are free 

and to walk next

to a free man

is one of the 

most precious 

gifts.

The gentle wind

shakes the droplets of

rain off the 

leaves above

and onto our 

heads. 

It's a cleansing. 

A calming. 

We lock eyes 

and you gently 

Nod and smile. 

It takes my 

breath away 

for a moment. 

You walk 

towards the next 

road.
