Find my way back
To those
that are lost.
It was written
on a bench.
I sat down
next the the
writing
careful not
to sit on top of it.
I looked
straight
ahead
and let the
July
sun warm
my back.
Who is lost?
I am right
here I thought.
But deep down
I have always been
searching.
For a world
that sees me.
I never
quite fit.
over the years
I let
it wrap around me
like a tight
blanket.
But truth
is, I am lost.
A woman sits
next to me on the bench
with headphones on.
She looks down
at the writing
and looks ahead.
As I start to get
up we both look
at each other.
And in that
moment no
words were
spoken
but we smiled
acknowledging
indeed
we were
both lost.
As I walked
away there
was no need
to turn back
for an interaction.
It was time for me to
take a walk
around this park
and unravel the
security blanket.
And do the
thing that
scares me
most.
Find my
way back.
