I Smile Up

 Walking to

the beat

of the Sun.

Letting

the leaves

hug

my heels

as I walk

down

the trail.

I smile

up.

The days 

of smiling

down 

are done.

As I walk

I let 

the rocks

cradle

my feet.

They know.

Understand

the world

right now.

As I walk

by a huge

branch

that over hangs

the trail.

I gently

hold

it.

I let it

go 

and it 

wobbles

back and forth

as if to say 

goodbye.

That is exactly 

what this 

walk is about.

letting 

it go.

So I smile up

and the 

trees 

started 

smiling

with me.
