Holding On So Tightly
As I watched
a piece of
trash being
blown
by a July
wind
right
before a storm.
I started to walk
faster
to beat the storm.
As the wind
and rain
danced around
my body
I walked faster.
I saw something
that reminded
me of you
and stopped.
I let the rain
beat my skin
and the wind
tried to
knock me over.
And in the moment
I let the storm
take away
the weight of
your choices
and forgave
myself.
I forgave myself
for holding
on so
tightly
and allowed
myself to let go.
