Wild, Free and Mine

I put my
hands
on the
saddle
for the first
time
and was not
afraid
at all.
I jumped
up and lifted
my leg
over the horse.
I did not realize
it would
feel like
this.
The horse
started to
walk slowly
and I quickly
realized
my control
was gone.
This was
no longer
my ride.
It was his.
We climbed
up the side
of a muddy
mountain
and I
had no
choice to
hang on
and
let go.
As we got
to the meadow
I started
to release
my breath
until
the horse took
off in the pasture.
In a moment
I felt my
heart float
and I let
out a gasp
and started to
laugh.
And then
I got it.
I felt it.
What it was
like
to actually
live.
Not through
the worlds
demands
and expectations
but through
what life
should
actually be.
Wild
Free
and mine.
