Turtle In A Butterfly Garden

Floating

on a 

green log

of safety

in the 

water

down

below. 

Brass

sculpted

lights

celebrate

the flight

of the 

butterflies

above me. 

Colorful

wings of flight 

take over the 

sky above

looking

like autumn

leaves

falling in

a dance

of life. 

Sunlight 

kissed 

orange slices

placed out 

on a 

plate of 

gold

for the 

butterfly feast. 

An overlooked

helmet shell

covering 

a noble 

turtle heart

waits as 

the droplets 

of petals

cover 

webbed

feet. 

But 

on a 

unsuspecting 

day

I will 

spread my

hidden 

wings 

and take

to the 

butterfly 

filled air. 

Eyes upon

me

It will 

be whispered

about the 

turtle in 

the butterfly garden. 

Taking

flight.
